Introduction to Uncertainty Quantification and Probabilistic Analysis
Instructor: Mr Gavin Jones, Smart UQ
Tuesday, August 25, 2020 | 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM
This tutorial will discuss the importance of using Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) from the perspective of industry ROI, regulatory compliance, and emerging technologies like the Digital Twin/Digital Thread initiatives. Then the tutorial will present common UQ processes that operate within a probabilistic framework utilized for numerical simulations. Additional topics discussed include model calibration, model validation, sensitivity analysis, and how to account for aleatoric and epistemic uncertainties. This is purely an educational tutorial and will focus on the concepts, methods, and applications of probabilistic analysis and uncertainty quantification. SmartUQ software will only be used for illustration of the methods and examples presented.
